Description: "Deacon's Plug Tobacco" advertising display in original frame c.1910s (VG/EX-EX) Period large format advertising piece featuring a very detailed artists depiction of (2) men in horse drawn carriage racing. Looking on in the lower corner are a pair of young boys, one of whom is ethnically stereotyped. Titled, "The Deacon's Plug Tobacco" at top with "C.H. Carruth & Co. Proprietors, Boston, Mass." at bottom. Housed within original wooden frame which also bears "Carruth" name along lower wooden slat in red lettering. Presents very well with moderate consistent age toning. Professional restoration along the upper edge has laid a few tears down and filled in some color. Light wear/surface loss to frame. Outstanding display value and one of the finer advertising pieces within the collection: VG/EX-EX with note to restoration ($1,000-$2,000)
