Description: "Log Cabin" smoking tobacco counter display box with ethnic graphic c.1880s (Overall VG-VG/EX, Label EX-EX/MT) Large lidded wooden box counter display featuring color lithographic label on interior cover depicting African American in stereotypical fashion. Exteroir retains overwhelming majority original applied black covering which is imprinted on the front in gold, "The Celebrated Log-Cabin Smoking Tobacco" with 1871 patent date. "Chas. H. Conrad & Co." on one side. Covering has flaked/chipped in areas and displays light to moderate wear throughout. Interior box top label is lightly toned but retains very fine display qualities.
