Description: Ty Cobb autographed book with racially insensitive notations JSA (EX, dust jacket VG). Despite a long and storied career in baseball Ty Cobb has never been able to shake what seems to be his most troubling and defining characteristic: racism. Although a more subdued Cobb tried throughout his later years to change public perception he could never fully separate himself from the reputation earned during his early days in baseball. The offered is a stark reminder of both the times in which Cobb lived and the effect it had on culture as a whole. Hardbound edition of Eneas Africanus, published in 1940, has been signed on the title page, "Mr. Holden: - Note authors preface, remember the southerner likes a Negro, not the Negro. Hope you enjoy this book, Ty Cobb." Blue fountain pen signature rates 8/9 out of 10. Book exhibits light scattered age toning with minimal wear. The original dust jacket exhibits corner and edge wear including some paper loss. Includes an auction LOA from JSA. Book: EX, Dust Jacket: VG
