Description: 1971 Joe Frazier "Award of Excellence" by Judges of the Philadelphia Municipal Court in form of a Criminal Complaint (see description) Unique presentational piece taking the form of what would at first glance appear to be a serious legal document. Despite the condition flaws noted below it could likely be displayed to great effect and some of the damage is possible to reverse through use of a professional conservator. Legal sized paper (8.5"x14") is an official "Private Criminal Complaint" from the Commonwealth of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Municipal Court. In the case of "Commonwealth of Pennsylvania vs. Mr. Joe Frazier World Champion" he is accused the following acts: "1: Said defendant did engage in puglastic assaults on 27 men. There names are already on record. Verified by all. 2: Did display an exmplorary assult on the youth of Philadelphia - using as his weapons: HUMILITY and RESPECT." Area at bottom has been filled in to read in part, "The defendant - Joe Frazier - has pleaded, on the advice of counsel, GUILTY to all charges. We, the Judges of The Philadelphia Municipal Court, have decided....that HE, THE CHAMP, is to commended for these acts. It is out unanimous decision to give him our AWARD OF EXCELLENCE." Document is signed throughout by numerous officials and a host of other information has been typed in. Wear, soiling, and discoloration/staining is evident throughout and it is mounted to what is likely a portion of the original presentational folio (please see image for a better idea of current condition). Accompanied by a black and white 8"x10" photo of the then panel of Judges which is mounted to backing that bears the Court seal at lower right, signatures of several members at lower left, and has a portion of the original service paper at top.
