Description: Significant 1955 Mickey Mantle New York Yankees American League Championship ring. Classic design has the Yankees famed top hat logo on the face, accented by (4) small diamonds, rubies, and sapphires."American League Champions" is lettered around the beveled edge and the year "1955" appears on each shank with a baseball decoration below. "Mickey C. Mantle" is engraved on the interior band. Although not hallmarked, as is the case with other 1955 Yankees rings, it is known to have been made by Balfour and is fashioned of 14k gold. Size (10.5) with just a hint of light wear. The 1955 Yankees won (96) games to claim their 21st American League pennant and would meet their cross town rival Brooklyn Dodgers in the World Series. It was the third time that the two teams met in the postseason since Mantle had joined the Yankees and despite an admirable performance they fell to Brooklyn in the 7th and deciding game. Without question the offered ranks among the more noteworthy Championship rings to have been offered at public auction and is one of a select few Mantle related pieces of such importance in private hands. Includes signed letters of provenance from Ray Mantle and Danny Mantle: EX/MT-NM
