Description: Roberto Clemente single signed baseball attributed to his 3,000th hit game c.1972 Spalding W.Giles Official National League baseball has been signed on the side panel, "Best Wishes, Roberto Clemente." Ink signature rates 7 to 7/8 out of 10. Ball has light toning and a clear coat applied. Vintage Dymo labels affixed below the autograph suggest that it was signed on September 30, 1972, the day Clemente got his 3,000th hit. It would mark one of his final Major League games before an ill fated plane flight to deliver humanitarian aid to Nicaragua. Box scores from the game played in Pittsburgh confirm that Doug Harvey was the second base Umpire.
