Description: 1990 Nelson Mandela handwritten and signed letter to Joe Frazier just weeks after his release from prison (EX/MT) Important note written by Nelson Mandela a short time after release from his (27) year prison term. Dated Febrary 19, 1990 it reads in full, "Dear Joe, With my compliments and best wishes, Sincerely Nelson Mandella." In addition, he has block letter printed, "Nelson Mandela" at upper right. Ink signature and handwriting rate 9-9/10 out of 10. Letter remains framed as displayed by Frazier (8"x9.5" - no glass) with a hint of incidental wear mentioned for accuracy along with typical mailing fold. Frazier was a staunch supporter of International freedom and justice and was so inspired by Mandela's legacy that he presented him with his WBC Championship belt upon his release from prison. Choice piece as relates to a pair of figures each remaining iconic in their own fields and sharing the distinction of applying notoriety in furtherance of the good of all.
