Description: Very nice c.1950s-80s Marilyn Monroe related photography collection (68 pieces) incl. numerous choice vintage c.1950s-60s press/wire, movie still, and promotional images and others showing Joe DiMaggio, etc. (Range VG to EX/MT-NM, Avg. EX-EX/MT) Nice collection includes some very desirable c.1950s photographs with notable photographer stampings on back as well as some period wire service and press photographs, promotional photos, and movie stills. While a number date to the 1950s and/or the period in which the image itself was taken, a portion are later period prints. Varying degrees of wear throughout with some pieces having been used in production with some mostly unobtrusive resulting cropping marks. Includes (2) very nice period silver gelatin prints (approx. 8"x10") depicting Monroe at her April 1954 vocal sessions. Both have "Photo By John Florea" stamping on back, one also has "Motion Picture Mag" stamp with hand notated "54" year; (10) vintage c.1950s period photos in variety of poses (some very nice shots) with photographer stampings on back incl. (8) Phil Burchman, (1) Paul Schumach, and (1) stamped "CBS Photo by J.Winston Pennock" showing Monroe with Charlie McCarthy and Edgar Bergen; Still from Don't Bother To Knock (notations on back in marker/pencil, some of which show through and tape re-enforced tear on lower edge); Still from Calendar Girl (shown with Cary Grant); Still from Love Nest; Still from Prince And The Showgirl; nice International News wire photo with 1954 date noted on paper caption showing her walking down steps on way to shoot scenes for Seven Year Itch; very sharp c.1950s photo of Monroe reading a get well card stamped on back, "Marilyn Monroe 10th Century Fox Player"; (2) vintage press photos in which she is pointing to a calendar (notation on back seems related to a Circus opening); (6) vintage press or wire photographs showing Monroe with DiMaggio; additional vintage press/wire and/or promotional photos with some being first generation period examples and some likely printed later; (11) photos (mostly 8"x10") which have "United Press" stamping on back which likely dates them c.1960s-70s. It appears that these are mostly (perhaps all with 1 exception) later generation printings of photos taken in earlier time period. Includes views of Monroe with DiMaggio (3, 2 are the same), leaving funeral services for mother of Arthur Miller, riding an elephant and in a tank (same image), meeting Queen Elizabeth, with Robert Mitchum, and others; (10) photos of Joe DiMaggio in the period just after Monroe died either related to his making funeral arrangements or attending the funeral. Some of these appear to have been printed/distributed in period and some just after (perhaps one or two a bit later); and several other vintage to modern printed photographs as relate to Monroe with not all picturing her: Range VG to EX/MT-NM, Avg.
