The guide was created by longtime Phillies publicity director Larry Shenk who suggested that the Phillies should have such a guide as all other teams already had created. the original total production of the (58) page 1964 guide was (300) each of which was hand colored on the cover by Shenk's wife Julie. After the 1964 guide the Phillies guides were all mass produced and remain so to date. The offered example represents one of only a handful known to exist and remains in superb original condition.
