Description: Fine 1914 Christy Mathewson handwritten and autographed letter to a young fan with original envelope (PSA "NM 7"). Charming handwritten letter reads in full, "Dear Friend: I was pleased to learn from your letter that you are one of my boosters and that you are proficient in your studies. The admiration or friendship of boys that are making good is gratifying. I haven't a base ball to send you but the next time you are at the Polo Grounds if you will make yourself known to me I will give you one that has been used in a League game. Your Friend, Christy Mathewson, Los Angeles Calif. Feb 17 1914." The signature and handwriting have been graded "NM 7" by PSA. Written on an 6.5"x10.25" sheet of paper which had been folded in half and the letter fills the front and back of one side which measures 6.5"x5". There are typical fold lines and some other general wear with some more pronounced condition flaws effecting the side which is blank. If so desired, this half could be removed.
