Description: Outstanding Raymond Berry Baltimore Colts professional model jersey (team repairs) with pants c.1950-60s. Blue durene jersey with white stripe accents has player number "82" on front, back, and sleeves. "Sand Knit" tag on the front tail notes size (46). While this early style of Sand Knit tag was introduced in the mid 1950s, the Colts did not move to a (2) stripe design until around 1957, and it appears that they introduced the style of numbers present on the offered jersey sometime closer to the early 1960s. Outstanding usage and wash wear are evident throughout with (3) team repairs including a large repair on the back number "2." Included pair of pants are likewise by Sand Knit (size 32) with number "82" written in the waist in vintage black marker. These likely date to a slightly later period than the jersey. One of the most noted players in Colts history, Berry was a member of their back-to-back Championship teams in 1958 and 1959. While with the team he lead the NFL in receptions and receiving yards three times and in receiving touchdowns twice, and earned (6) Pro Bowl selections. With regard to direct player provenance and overall use/wear this jersey ranks among the finest Colts pieces of game equipment we have handled.
