Description: Babe Ruth Boston Red Sox large format photograph with possible related Christy Walsh note c.1920-30s (Ruth Apartment Photo Match). Large format 10"x13" sepia tone image depicting Babe Ruth on the Boston Red Sox c.1915-1920. There is a Babe Ruth signature within the image indicating that this particular photo is a rendering after an original that was hand signed by Ruth. Photo remains in very fine condition with only some very light surface wear. The exact photo is visible within period images of Babe Ruth's apartment a copy of which is included with the lot. The lot also includes a typewritten note dated Feb. 9, 1942 as sent to Babe Ruth from his agent Christy Walsh. The note includes content asking Babe to allow Christy to borrow the "old Red Sox picture which you brought out from New York" to have copies made. Walsh indicates that he will return the photo to Babe upon completion which we feel is very likely the offered image. Note is hand signed "Christy" in black ink. Photo is matted and framed (modern era frame). Very fine display piece which Ruth appeared to have valued quite highly given its prominence within his apartment and the degree of care executed by Christy Walsh.
