Description: 1910 Harry Lord handwritten letter with fine content. One page handwritten letter to D.A. Fletcher on “The Planters Hotel” stationery dated “Sept. 29, 1910.” Reads in part, “Dear Sir: In reply to your communication relating to the All-Star series will state that that I am holding myself in readiness to live up to my part of the contract…will report to you ready to play whenever and wherever you may designate…Wishing you the best of success in the venture.” Signed at the close, “Harry D. Lord.” Lord debuted for the Boston Americans in 1907 and in 1908 was a member of the first team officially known as the Boston Red Sox. He went to play with the Chicago White Sox for a time before a contract dispute with Charles Comiskey lead him to sign with the Buffalo Blues of the Federal League. Well preserved with light consistent age toning, incidental small folds at bottom corners, and a hint of soiling at upper edge. Handwriting/signature rate 8/9 out of 10.
