Lot Number: 275a

Description: Rare Kansas City Chiefs professional model helmet c.1960s. Exceedingly scarce helmet has "KC" decals applied to either side in the style which was adopted by the team as early as 1963. "Riddell" and "Kra-Lite" markings are impressed in the back and the proper "RK" label is affixed inside (one half is stained/discolored). Written inside in period marker is the size (7 3/8) and there are a pair of "26" player number notations. This number was worn by Frank Jackson from 1961-1965 and then Paul Lowe from 1968-1969 (we suspect that it is more likely attributed to Jackson given the style of the shell). Extensive use/wear is evident with the shell displaying scrapes and scuffs throughout along with some chipping to the paint. Suspension style interior is intact and there is a period two-bar facemask attached. Among the earlier Chiefs helmets to have surfaced dating to the formative years of their time in Kansas City. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions: VG-EX
