Description: Rare c.1905 Goldsmith brand "Pneumatic Cushion" catchers' mask. Exceedingly rare style with cage fashioned of heavy gauge wire which is secured with both clips and folded over loops/curls. The interior features a rare inflatable portion which is marked "The Goldsmith Patented Pneumatic Cushion" (with 1905 patent date noted). Chin has a small horse hair filled leather pad (which is missing some material on the underside). Typical rust to metal portions and some general toning/wear to cloth and straps. One metal band which anchors cloth to the metal is missing. A very scarce and interesting style: VG-EXEstimated Price Range: ($750-$1,000)
