Description: Alexander Cartwright signed personal 1842 library card (EX). Original Mercantile Library Association membership reciept stating that Cartwright paid his one dollar quarterly due for a period of 1842. The receipt is dated June 15, 1842 which is around the time when Cartwright began his baseball playing career with the New York Knickerbockers. Cartwright filled out the reciept including signing his name on the front in black ink. Signature rates 9/10 out of 10. Cartwright also wrote "Mercantile Library $1.00 June 15th, 1842" in ink on the back. The front is also signed be a member of the Mercantile Library Association.
