Description: New York Yankees professional model hat with possible attribution to Whitey Ford (EX). Vintage Yankees hat retaining its original Tim McAuliffe tagging and size 7 1/8 stamped on the interior leather band. Vintage "24" is written in period ink under the hat bill along with a "Whitey Ford" signature in blue sharpie. The #24 likely corresponds to either Duke Maas or Al Downing who wore that uniform number for the vast majority of the seasons from 1958-68. The hat exhibits evident use including perspiration toning and buckling to the leather interior headband. Interior support of the bill has some typical cracking (from the period) and the exterior shows nice usage incl. some soiling. Although unclear, it is highly likely that the offered hat was worn by Whitey Ford in addition to the attributed players.
