Two page onion skin copy of a letter written by Alexander Cartwright, one of baseball's founding fathers and the man responsible for conceiving the modern day rule set. Dated June 9, 1862 and written from Honolulu, Cartwright is updating the recipient on current events around his place of residence and mentions his wife within the text. Signed at the close "Alex J. Cartwright." A postscript written in lead pencil is in Cartwrights' live hand. VG/EX
