Description:1975 Jim Kaat "Ken Hubbs Memorial Award" plaque (Kaat letter of provenance) (VG) Distinguished honor was bestowed by the Baseball Writers Association of America to players whom displayed "exemplary conduct on and off the field." Black wooden plaque (12"x12") has a metal plate affixed to the front which has the "BBWAA" logo at both top and bottom (the year "1975" flanks the lower logo). Text reads in part, "Baseball Writers' Association of America presents to Jim Kaat, the Ken Hubbs Memorial Award..." Hubbs was a talented ballplayer who died at just (22) years of age in a plane crash. He was admired not only for his skill on the diamond but also for his community outreach having often visited children in hospitals and church groups. Mild scattered wear includes some chipping to corners/edges and minor flaws to the metal plate. "Balfour" marked labels on back. Includes signed letter of provenance from Jim Kaat: VG ($300-$500)
