Lot 52

Description: Rare Harvey Haddix and Lew Burdette near-perfect pitching duel signed and inscribed baseball (Sigs. NM/MT-MT). On May 26, 1959 Harvey Haddix of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Lew Burdette engaged in one of the greatest pitching duels in Major League history, with Haddix pitching 12 perfect innings and Burdette pitching 13 shutout innings. Interestingly, Haddix wound up losing the game following an error. Offered is a W. White N.L. baseball signed by both, with both referencing the rare feat. Haddix signed on the sweet spot with "12 innings perfect game 5-26-59" and "The Kitten" inscriptions, while Burdette signed on a side panel with "13 inning shutout, winning pitcher 5-26-59" inscription. A JSA authentication sticker is also affixed to the ball. Signatures rate 8/9 out of 10, and ball has moderate areas of toning: EX+. ($500-$1,000)
