Description: Large archive of c.1930s-80s baseball card and hobby associated ephemera as relates to a number of noted collectors and early dealers (incl. letters from Burdick, Wagner, Barker, Lancaster, and others) (Overall EX) Substantial quantity of letters, publications, checklists, and other/similar material as relates to sports and non-sports card collecting from it's earliest days as an organized hobby (c.1930s) through the 1970s-80s when it became more formal and was an established business. It appears to be the compilation of material from two or three different sources (likely from collections which were absorbed into others over time) with a substantial portion from Tom Collier and his business, Collector's Exchange. We strongly suggest that those whom have an esteem for hobby history, with interest in bidding on this material, make attempts to preview in person. Includes undated c.1930s handwritten letter from E.L. Lancaster to John D. Wagner which has fantastic collecting content opening with two paragraphs about the T206 set incl. mention of the Honus Wagner; a home made book bound with pins between heavy stock covers which appears to be one of Lancaster's personal checklist books. There are typed checklists of various card sets throughout (some on paper which has the name "Edward L. Lancaster" printed at top) along with some handwritten notations; (2) lengthy 1959 handwritten and signed letters from Jefferson Burdick to John D. Wagner (signed "Jeff"); 1948 John D. Wagner handwritten letter to Charles Bray; a number of typed and mimeographed card/set checklists (some being rather early) and/or related material including sheets which appear to have been filled in with attemp to rank rarity/desirability; some of Frank Nagy's sales/auction mailers; a good number of letters/correspondence as sent to Tom Collier and a host of paperwork related to his business; and other material.
