Description: Early career Artis Gilmore Kentucky Colonels professional model road jersey c.1971-74 (rookie era) with period matching shorts (EX) Vibrant blue jersey with blue/white trim has "Kentucky" team name lettered across the front and player number "53" below. Number also appears on back below the name, "Gilmore." Inside back tail has the proper "Rawlings" manufacturers tag with adjacent wash tag. Stiched over the size portion of the Rawlings tag is a size "40" identifier; this appears completely original from the period and was likely done at the factory which a proper pre-made Rawlings tag was not on hand. Included for display are a matching pair of period shorts for display although they can not be confirmed to be attributed to Gilmore. Shorts having Rawlings Tag in waist (size 36) with adjacent wash tag. Appropriate evident usage wear to jersey; shorts being far better preserved with limited use. Includes signed statement of provenance from long time Colonels trainer, equipment Manager, and travel secretary Lloyd Gardner relaying the history and LOA from Hunt Auctions: EX ($10,000-$15,000)Early career Artis Gilmore Kentucky Colonels professional model road jersey c.1971-74 (rookie era) with period matching shorts (EX) Vibrant blue jersey with blue/white trim has "Kentucky" team name lettered across the front and player number "53" below.
