Description: Rare William "Dummy" Hoy single signed baseball (full JSA LOA) (Overall EX/MT) Extremely desirable single signed baseball as relates to one of the most intriguing ball players of his time. It is widely believed that the use of hand signals by Umpires was instituted for his benefit. Above, Hoy has inscribed, Born at Findlay, Ohio May 23, 1862" and on the panel below he wrote "14 Seasons 1888-1902." Additional notation on side panel is somewhat obscured but appears to read age 98 which would place signing within the last few years of his life. Signature rates 7/8 out of 10. Ball has light even toning/soiling and a touch of minor scattered wear. Includes full LOA from JSA. One of only a handful were are aware of: Overall EX/MT ($2,000-$4,000)
