Description: Bill Gallo original baseball cartoon artwork, c.1959 (EX). Approx. 10.5"x13" cartoon drawing which depicts Hoyt Wilhelm's hand gripping a knuckleball. The ball is drawn in the likeness of Casey Stengel, with Stengel saying "Ouch! Go bite y'r nails or somethin'!". Above Wilhelm's hand, there is a caption that states "It was the knuckle-baller's butterfly pitch that put the Yanks under .500 (6-7) for the 1st time since late April in 1954!". Gallo signed the bottom edge of the drawing. Along the bottom border he also wrote "Dear Mr. Spink, Does this have possibilities? Sincerely, Bill Gallo": EXFinal Bid: $233.00
