Description:Scarce Thayer style baseball catcher's mask c.1870-80's. One of the most elusive pieces of early baseball equipment the offered mask measures 9" tall and features horizontal bar construction secured by two vertical entwined bent iron wires. Oval frame of mask retains its' original canvas padding and has the original head strap (detached at one side) still attached. Discovered in the New England area, one of only a few known examples: VG
