Description: Rare 1896 Barney Dreyfuss autographed handwritten letter. Dated March 2, 1896 handwritten letter on Louisville Colonels baseball stationary by team treasurer and secretary Barney Dreyfuss. The content of the letter pertains to the signing of Ed Boyle to the Louisville team and a $100 advance which was enclosed with the offered letter. Beautifully signed at the bottom, "Truly Yours Barney Dreyfuss Secr. & Treas." The text and signature remain very strong rating 8/9 out of 10. The letter itself has a small hole at the top right edge along with some period tape repair residue along the fold lines. 8 1/2"x11" matted and framed with the letter having been archivally dry mounted onto acid free board. Dreyfuss went on to become a highly successful and respected executive with the Pittsburgh Pirates and was recently inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. One of only a handful of documented Dreyfuss handwritten and signed letters extant.
