Lot Number: 407

Description: Ted Williams professional model baseball bat with home run attribution c.1951. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 35" long and weighs 34.5oz. The bat exhibits very fine use including ball marks, stitching impressions, cleat marks, and even handle wear. Model #W166 is stamped on the knob end with the earlier signature style Ted Williams facsimile autograph stamped on the barrel end. Coupled with the signature stamping style and the uncommon positioning of the "125" within the oval label, the bat dates to the 1950-51 era. The bat was originally obtained by Richard Schofield, who worked at the Charleston Armory in a section of Boston during the period. Mr. Schofield received the bat from Williams at a function and was told, by Williams himself, that he had recently used the bat to hit a home run during a game played in Boston against the White Sox. Williams hit three different home runs against the White Sox during the 1951 season: on May 15th (300th career home run), July 24th, and September 17th. Very attractive Williams game used bat with desirable signature stamping and uncommon labeling with direct provenance as having been used to hit a home run. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA Graded GU 8(Taube/Malta), original notarized letter of provenance from Richard Schofield, Jr., LOA from Hunt Auctions, and a letter from the Baseball Hall of Fame confirming the dates of Williams' 1951 home runs against the White Sox: EX-EX/MT
