Lot Number: 397

Description: 1919 World Series program. Issued for the historic Game #1 played at Cincinnati between the Reds and the Chicago White Sox. The program is neatly scored in ink and includes the notation that Cincinnati second baseman Rath was hit by a pitch during the first at bat of the World Series. This very pitch was the signal to gamblers that "the fix was on" and that several members of the White Sox were attempting to throw the World Series. The right edges of the front and back covers have some damage from moisture exposure and the interior center scoring page is loose. Includes letter of provenance from James McKechnie: GD-VG
