Description: 1956 Ty Cobb auto. "The Tiger Wore Spikes" book along with accompanying author signed book. 1956 hard cover volume retaining its original dust jacket that has been signed on the interior title page by Ty Cobb. Cobb also has penned a lengthy salutation explaining that his signature is not an endorsement of the book and its content. Cobb writes, "Some of enclosed meets with my approval, some I do not, and used against my ability to edit, this is the writers book used by him without my approval or consent. I autograph this only for the purchaser. Ty Cobb 8/5/58". Salutation and signature rate 9/10 out of 10, vintage inscription to the recipient is beneath on the same page (not in Cobb's hand). Lot also includes an identical book which has been signed by author John McCallum on the interior fly page. Cobb signed books are very seldom offered with the offered example among the finest that we have encountered. Includes LOA from James Spence Authentication: Book: EX, Signature: NM-MT
