Description: Christy Mathewson Tuxedo tobacco advertising display sign c. 1910-15. Large die cut cardboard display measures 17"x25" and features a color lithographic image of Mathewson advertising Tuxedo tobacco. The surface of the piece has some appropriate age and handling wear including some tiny soiling spots and a degree of surface undulation at the bottom from apparent mositure exposure. Left shoulder area has an indentation and there is some general age toning mostly at the bottom portion. Mathewson was the cream of the league druing the first quarter of the 20th century. His good looks and educated background made him a favorite for product endorsement pieces that are highly sought after by collectors today. Beautifully matted and framed archivally, unlike the more prevalent Mathewson Tuxedo trolley signs this is the first example of this die cut display that we have offered: VG-EX (With note to condition report)
