Description: Original Yankee Stadium "cornerstone" c.1923. Displaying the interlocking "NY", the most famous insignia in sport history, this massive terra cotta artwork ws executed by master artisans for Yankee Stadium's 1923 opening. This same "cornerstone" is visible in photographs of Opening Day 1923 as the centerpiece of three terra cotta pieces above the main entrance. The offered artwork is presently exhibited at the American Museum of Folk Art until January 2004. Piece retains wonderful original patina with appropriate age crazing and muted surface measuring 19 3/8"x16 1/4"x 3 1/4".
