Description: Superb June 13, 1948 Babe Ruth original photograph. Sepia tone image of Ruth speaking at the microphone during the 25th anniversary of Yankee Stadium celebration. The photo shows Ruth's frail stature which had been ravaged by throat cancer as he leaned on a bat for support. On that day the Yankees retired Babe Ruth's #3 and it would be the last time the HOF slugger would appear at the stadium which he had helped to "build". Onlooking to the left of Ruth is Yankees announcer Mel Allen, AL President Will Harridge, and the Yankee team. Virtually unimproveable Ruth related photograph with relation to rarity, subject, image quality, and would be a perfect compliment to the famous Nat Fein photograph taken on the same date from behind Ruth. 8"x10": EX-MT
