Lot Number: 296

Description: 1916 Johnny Creeley Championship fight attributed boxing gloves with contract and related material. Includes pair of leather boxing gloves which each have a "Schmelzer's Sporting Goods" tag inside (use/wear and some age related wear including a hole in the finger area of one). An included letter of provenance signed by Creeley's son states that he inherited them from his father and that they were worn in Creeley's bout vs. Johnny Kilbane in 1916; Creeley's original copy of the contract he signed for the fight (not signed by Kilbane, very heavy wear including missing chips/small pieces and separations along fold lines); (20+) vintage photographs of Creeley from throughout his career and later life, some showing only him and in some he is with others. It appears that a portion of these may be autographed; sheet of "Johnny Creeley Boxing Enterprises" stationary; and a handful of other Creeley related pieces. Varying degrees/types of wear throughout with is severe in some cases. Includes aforementioned letter of provenance and the original catalog in which noted dealer Jim Stinson offered the gloves for sale: PR-EX
