Description: c.1920 Chicago American Giants team photograph with Rube Foster and Christobal Torriente (plus related scrapbook). Sepia tone 8"x10" photograph showing uniformed team members including Hall of Famers Rube Foster (third from the left, standing) and Christobal Torriente (far left, front row). Others, as identified by fountain pen notations, include Dave Malarcher, Frank Wickware, Tom Williams, Tom Johnson, and Bingo Demoss. The year "1910" is written at top however this is incorrect. Mounted to scrapbook page backing and there is wear throughout including wrinkles, creases (a very heavy horizontal crease breaks the paper), a small area of upper surface paper loss (to left of Foster and minimally effecting his likeness), and some ink smears. Also included is the original scrapbook out of which this piece (along with several other notable Negro League related photographs in this auction) came. The book is filled with newsprint clippings and magazine articles covering baseball from around the 1910s through the 1960s with several pages related to Rube Foster and the Negro Leagues. Scrapbook covers have separated as have some of the interior pages and there are varying degrees/types of wear throughout: PR-GDEstimated Price Range: ($1,500-$2,500)
