Description: 1888 "Play Ball, Stories of The Ball Field" book by Mike Kelly. Early softcover work by "King" Kelly who was one of baseball's most noted star players in the formative era. Seldom offered, this copy has benefitted from extensive professional stabilization and restoration to bring to a presentable level of condition. As part of this process it was bound in hardcovers and the cover of the book itself has been archivally laminated (as have portions of the title page). Several interior pages have material added to a lower corner and some have been trimmed to remove damage.
