Description: Sportsman's Park hand painted "Ticket Office" sign said to have been in place during final game. Large wooden signed (approx. 36"x24") is finished in white with prominent hand painted text that would direct viewers to the "Advance Ticket Office "on Grand Avenue. Sportsman's Park replaced Grand Avenue Park in St. Louis and the plot of land where both stood was the site on which professional baseball was played for what is believed to be longer than anywhere else in the world. The sign was initially offered in a 2017 auction where it was relayed that it had been removed from Sportsman's Park just after the final game was played at the long standing St. Louis venue on May 8, 1966. It shows wear consistent with long term use as intended and there are some additional chips that are the result of its' hasty removal. Signed by the original artist who painted it, "Ollie Kempf": VG-EX
