Lot Number: 20

Description: Important Spalding baseball bat rack c.1890s-1900s - likely the earliest known Spalding branded example and possibly unique. Early wooden bat rack stands just over 40" tall and spans around 41" side to side at widest point of the arms. Each arm has an impressed "A.G. Spalding" logo and collectively they offer space to hold a total of (46) bats. Clever design allows for the rack to be completely broken down however when properly assembled it remains sturdy and functional. Mild general use as intended along with some general age and storage related wear however the surfaces appear to be largely original and there are no major defects worthy of note. Rarity cannot be overstated with this being the first example of its' type we can recall seeing and it is possible that this is a unique survivor: EX
