Description: 1956 Bill Russell All Northern California:1st Team trophy. Figural trophy as awarded to Bill Russell naming him to the First Team Northern California Team as a member of the University of San Francisco. Russell had once again led his team to the NCAA title for the second straight season earning All-American honors. Trophy displays a figural basketball player atop a wooden plinth and base with brass figural eagles flanking. Inscribed brass placard on front, "S.F.S. & S.A" All No. Calif.. 1st Team 1956 Bill Russell U.S.F." Very fine general condition with some minor surface wear to the base and repairs to the ankle areas of the figural top. Rare and notable trophy dating to Russell's historic collegiate career.
