Significant and prestigious presentational piece features a full sized silver-plated baseball bat supported by home plate shaped walnut wooden base and upright backplate. Mounted at top is a "Louisville Slugger" insignia placard and below, an engraved metal placard reading in part, "Hillerich & Bradsby Co. Silver Slugger Award, Presented to Ivan Rodriguez-C Texas, Member of the Sporting News American League Offensive Team, 1997..." An important honor as bestowed annually by Major League Coaches and Managers and one of seven earned by Rodriguez whom is considered one of the finest and most consistent hitting catchers in baseball history.
