Description: Archive of Norm Van Brocklin handwritten letters c.1946-47. Notable cache of approx. (51) different handwritten letters as sent to his girlfriend Gloria Schieve who of course became his wife at later date. Content ranges from typical topical items of the period, wedding plans, and other general subjects. There are a good number of letters with interesting football content providing insight into Van Brocklin's early career at Oregon. One passage reads, in part, "Am gonna start working out between 5-6 in the afternoon from here on playing football & doing lots of running 'cause baby our future depends upon my ability to play football this coming season."- Letters are all signed "Stub" which was Van Brocklin's nickname and the majority of the mailing envelopes have self identifier of "Stub" as well.
