Lot Number: 199

Description: Extensive archive of Raymond Berry 1956-67 playing career notebooks with handwritten game notes, plays, and related material. Fascinating group of notebooks and files as kept by Berry throughout his playing days with portions identified as relating to each season between 1956 and 1967 with the exception of 1958 (offered separately within this sale). Content includes volumes of handwritten plays and copious notes written both in preparation of games and summations/pertinent points after they were played. In addition, Berry recorded much of his training and other/related information. It is evident when reviewing the material that he was one of the great students of the game and there is noteworthy attention to detail throughout. Mixed in are surely notes that relate to notable games/plays and the wealth of information would take a good amount of time to sort through. The material is contained in either file folders or (3) ring binders, (3) of which were issued by the Colts and have the team name and "Raymond Berry" gilt lettered on front. Please note: this lot will contain both Berry's handwritten notes/plays and it is presumed that, given the nature of such material, there are plays/notes/pages which were written by other team members/personnel. One of the more intriguing groups of its' type that we have handled. Includes letter of provenance from Raymond Berry: Overall EX
