Description: Significant Bruce Smith University of Minnesota Gophers jersey c.1940-41. White jersey with crimson shoulders and sleeve stripe accents has number "54" on both front and back. "O'Shea Knitting Mills" tag is on the inside along with size "46" tag. Well preserved with usage and minor age/storage related wear. Smith lead Minnesota to back-to-back National Titles in 1940 and 41 and his play in the later season earned a Heisman Trophy. He remains one of the most highly regarded players in the history of Gophers football. In 1977 he received the distinction of his number "54" being the first retired by the school.
