Description:Historically significant 1876 William Hulbert (and others) autographed National League Resolution. Important (5) page resolution as passed by the National League Board of Directors during their first season in operation resulted in the expulsion of two teams (the Athletics and Mutuals) for the 1877 season. The offending parties had violated the League's mandate with regard to the number of games each was obligated to play on the home grounds of the other member teams. As a result, the 1877 season was played between just (6) teams and not the (8) that had been chartered. A transcript of the full text is available upon request. It has been signed on the last page by Hulbert ("Chicago Base Ball Club by Wm. A. Hulbert Pres.") as well as Charles Fowle (St. Louis), Walter Haldeman (Louisville), and J.L. Keck (Cincinnati). A handwritten notation on the back of the final page is believed to have been written by N.E. Young. Housed within a 30"x33.5" display, the pages show some light general handling and storage wear along with a few fold lines. A color photocopy of the reverse of the last page (included) shows that it has some additional soiling/discoloration and a touch more wear than is evident when viewing the overall piece. One of the more significant early documents that we have offered with regard to content and special note to the rarity of Hulbert's autograph. Includes full LOA from JSA: Sigs. NM, Document VG-EX
