Description: 1956 Billy Pierce Sporting News Pitcher of the Year Award. Presentational certificate as given to Pierce in recognition of his (20) win season during which he appeared in a League leading (21) complete games and struck out (192) batters. Done on 16"x20" parchment stock with hand colored accents, it is presently displayed in a 21"x25" wooden frame with some moisture staining and other wear evident throughout. The prestigious and significant honor is one of the oldest continually awarded in baseball's history and pre-dates the Cy Young Award.
