Description:Rare "Reach Sporting Goods" double sided metal advertising sign c.1909. Striking period display being die-cut heavy guage metal which is color lithographed identically on both sides and intended to hang outside a shop by use of the flange on straight edge. "Reach Sporting Goods" company name is done in red and appears on a green background; large circular portion resembles the famed red and blue stitched Reach Official American League baseball. A patent date of July 13, 1909 is noted within the artwork however the balls which were eventually issued bear a later printed on date. This suggests that the sign was created at some point in between. Sign measures 18.25"x13.5" and shows wear consistent with outdoor use including some scrapes/scratches and scattered rust and oxidization on one side, the other has a greater degree with mild rust throughout the surface. Mounted in a wooden stand for display: EX
