Lot Number: 494a

Description: Scarce "Jackie Robinson's Day" souvenir pennant c.1947. Highly uncommon souvenir pennant believed to have been distributed at a September 23, 1947 "Jackie Robinson Day" event held at Ebbets Field. Robinson was honored on the field with presentations inclusive of a new car and an appearance by Bill "Bojangles" Robinson for his contributions to racial equality. Pennant measures 25" long retaining its original yellow tassels. Condition is very fine with light general age and handling wear. Although impossible to succinctly document the pennant to that date we feel very confident in the attribution based upon pennant style/materials dating as well as production quality. Very fine rarity is the first example we have handled or encountered: EX
