Lot Number: 25

Description: Significant 1946 Jackie Robinson twice autographed and inscribed rookie photographic postcard (PSA/DNA 8 NM-MT). Incredibly scarce real photographic postcard picturing Robinson in Montreal Royals uniform during his rookie season of 1946 just one year before being called up to the Brooklyn Dodgers. Black and white postcard pictures Robinson in posed image leaping for a baseball with an idyllic cloud filled sky in the background. Jackie has boldly signed the front in black fountain pen rating 8/9 out of 10. The reverse of the card displays and hand written note by Robinson to the recipient, "Thanks for your letter. I hope the writing on the back will not interfere, Sincerely Jackie Robinson". No Jackie, we definitely do believe that the aforementioned writing will interfere with the note and signature rating 8 out of 10. The postcard itself presents in high condition grade free of any creasing with four sharp corners. Back is not postally cancelled and has a small surface abrasion at top right corner mentioned for accuracy only. The dual scarcity of this piece cannot be overstated. It is the first example of this postcard we have encountered in over 30 years let alone the fact that it has been autographed twice by Robinson in the period of his rookie season with the Montreal Royals. Quite likely the finest of a scant surviving population for this early career Robinson signed medium. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA (8 NM-MT) and includes full LOA from JSA: Postcard: NM, Signatures: Range NM/MT-MT
