Period "Big League" brand baseball made from semi-hardened foam has "Los Angeles Dodgers Welcome Luncheon 10/27/57" block lettered across sweetspot. It has been signed in ink on the side panel by Stengel with Alston directly below. Signatures rate 7 to 7/8 out of 10. Ball itself has several minimal flaws mentioned for accuracy and an additional unknown ink signature (not visible when positioned for display). The well attended event was held at L.A.'s Statler Hotel with over 1,100 local dignitaries on hand to welcome Walter O'Malley and the Dodgers to the West Coast.
