Rare Washington Senators game worn hat c.1944-46. Great vintage Senators cap with applied "W" patch on front. Interior leather band has # 7 chain stitched in red for sizing and has light but visible Goldsmith stamping. Also written inside the leather band is "18" in vintage ink and alongside is inscribed, "Johnson, Walter". While certainly this inscription was done in the period we do not have any reason to believe that Johnson wore this hat as his head size was 7 1/4 and the last games he appeared in were War Bond games in which he wore the number 21 although it does add an interesting element to this fine period cap. Interlocking glove shaped ornamental that once graced the front of the Yankee Stadium grandstand. 12" tall x 23" wide this group is on of two that were originally part of the decor at Yankee stadium and were removed in 1973 by the Invirex Demolition Co. and subsequently purchased by the J.Peterman Co. in New York. The glove are in two interlocking pieces and remain fairly intact except for some minor chipping. Accompanied by xerox copy of Yankee Stadium blueprints picturing this ornamental: VG-EX |
