Description: Rare and important Chicago American Giants team photograph c.1910s (PSA/DNA Type I). Sepia toned 8"x10" photo showing uniformed team members standing side by side inside a baseball stadium. Rube Foster, who served as both player and Manager, is on the far left and we believe that Luis Santop is directly to his right. Fellow Hall of Famer Pete Hill is fourth in from the opposite side. The Giants were one of the greatest Negro League teams ever fielded and won Championships in both 1914 and 1917. Original photographic material from this time (especially a piece with the clarity exhibited by this image) is both exceedingly rare and highly sought after. Toning and wear includes creasing and wrinkles along with a few tears that have been expertly stabilized from the back. A more pronounced area of discoloration (beside Foster's likeness) could not be reversed. Professionally removed from a scrapbook with some very minor resulting residue.
